ABOUT

I’m an artist and children’s book author from Northeast Ohio. I became interested in art (more specifically painting) at an early age, when I used to watch my mother create elegant figures in oils using a mini aluminum tripod on our dining room table. I knew then that I wanted to be an artist too. I love to paint! My work is mostly black and white portraiture and the artists that have influenced my work over the years are... Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo, Romare Bearden, Ezra Jack Keats, Aminah Robinson and of course my mother Maria Dixon Coiley.
